Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age but is more common in children and young age. It occurs when the body produces a little or no insulin, a hormone which carries glucose into the cells where glucose is restored for the energy. Type 1 also named as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, meaning type 1 diabetes sufferers use insulin injection to control blood sugar.
