The 5 Main Types of Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures |

Cosmetic dentistry is dentistry aimed at creating a positive change to your teeth and to your smile. Some common cosmetic dentistry procedures include:
1. Teeth bleaching/whitening Teeth bleaching, also called tooth whitening, is one of the most common procedures in cosmetic dentistry. It often involves whitening teeth beyond their natural color shade. Bleaching may be done at home using custom bleach trays made from the impressions that we take in the office. We also offer in-office Zoom Bleaching. During Zoom bleaching the gums are concealed using a rubber material to protect them while a bleaching compound is placed on the teeth. Bright light is used to boost up whitening ability of the bleaching substance. 2. Porcelain Veneers Veneering a tooth means to cover its facial, or front, surface. It is actually very similar to placing acrylic fingernails on top of natural nails. Veneers are used to enhance the shape and color of teeth, as well as to close spaces between teeth. Veneers can also cover up significant stains such as those caused by tetracycline. As we age, wear of the front teeth may affect the aesthetics of our smile. Veneers may be used to lengthen worn or short teeth and restore your smile. 3. Dental implants There are several modern options for the missing tooth replacement. One of them is a dental implant. A dental implant is a surgical material that coalesces with the jaw bone so that dental prostheses like bridges, dentures or crowns can be successfully installed and anchored. Before the dental prosthesis is attached, an abutment is placed on the dental implant to hold the prosthesis in place. 4. Dental bridges Dental bridging is another aesthetic option for the replacement of missing teeth by permanently joining pontics (artificial teeth) to adjoining teeth (abutment teeth). Here, the adjacent teeth are first reduced slightly using a high speed rotating equipment to accommodate the dental bridge. Dental bridges present certain advantages in comparison to other tooth replacement methods. Dental bridging is usually completed within few weeks. It provides replacement of the missing tooth both functionally and aesthetically. 5. Dental Bonding This procedure involves the application of a tooth colored resin onto the natural teeth in order to achieve better aesthetics. This is a non-reversible process as the resin completely bonds with the tooth to produce an improved tooth appearance.
