Healthy kidneys act as a filter, the filter is make up of nephrons sifting through the body's wastes to form urine, so the nephron is the kidney's primary functional unit. Each kidney has approximately 1 million nephrons. Renal Failure is, basically, the inability of the kidneys to perform their normal functions. Then, how to preserve remaining renal function for people with failed kidneys?
