The firm has said the Galaxy Alpha will be released at the beginning of September. When a more specific date is available, we'll let you know. Three, EE and Carphone Warehouseprice of nibiru h1 have confirmed they will sell the Galaxy Alpha and the latter will exclusively offer the blue coloured model. Vodafone and O2 will also stock the Galaxy Alpha and the latter will offer £145 to those upgrading from a Galaxy S4 and £225 to those from the Galaxy S5 on it's O2 Refresh tariffs. In terms of price, it's the usual drill where Samsung announces a new phone but no price. We think that - considering it's specs - the Galaxy Alpha only makes sense if it's cheaper than the Galaxy S5 which now available for around £450. However, Clove has put it up for pre-order at £499. Handtec has it for even more at £515. Before Samsung announced the handset, MobileFun was taking pre-orders at £549, but that page is now gone. In our review of the Galaxy S5 we criticised the smartphone for its plastic build quality – and we weren't the only ones to do so. Well the Galaxy Alpha addresses this problem with a metal frame and a 'solid finish'. It's just 6.7 mm thick and 115 g, according to Samsung. As per leaked information, the Galaxy Alpha has a 4.7in screen with a 720p HD resolution (the Galaxy S5 uses Full HD 1080p). The screen size and metal frame are the main two reasons why the phone is being put forward as an iPhone 6 rival. There's also the fact they will launch around the same time. Inside the Galaxy Alpha is an octa-core processor (Quad 1.8 GHz and Quad 1.3 GHz) with 2GB of RAM. There's 32GB of internal storage and interestingly no microSD card slot even though Samsung is known for consistently offering expandable storage. The smartphone does retain the fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor found on the flagship Galaxy S5. It also has 11ac Wi-Fi (2x2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.0 LE and NFC. There's no IR blaster, though. After plenty of leaked information and photos, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Alpha smartphone price of Coolpad 8730L (aka Galaxy S5 Prime). Following on from the Galaxy S5 mini and Galaxy S5 Active, Samsung has responded to ongoing criticism of plastic build quality with the metal-clad Galaxy Alpha which some are pegging as an iPhone 6 rival. "The Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market," said JK Shin, CEO of Samsung. "With an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device." As per leaked information Samsung announced the Galaxy Alpha on 13 August, ahead of IFA where it will no doubt unveil the Galaxy Note 4 at its Unpacked event.
