Students looking for nursing assistant education have to obtain training from CNA instructors. These instructors are registered nurses who have worked in the health care field for two or above years. They are employed to provide basic nursing training to students so that they can serve the medical industry with care and diligence.
CNA Instructors Requirements
CNA instructors must have certain qualities and education. Nursing boards in the United States expect you to hold a degree in nursing and a registered nurse license. Besides education, it is equally important to work in a long-term care facility for at least two years. Since it is a teaching job, you should have excellent communication skills, ability to present your ideas clearly and precisely.
How to become a CNA Instructor?
The first thing you need to be an instructor is the RN license. You may be exempted for this prerequisite in some states though. For example, the RN license is not required if you have a Train-the Trainer certification. However, you must have experience 15 hours of teaching experience in the nursing field.
Complete a two-year associate degree program or bachelor's degree in science if the state you want to practice the job demands so. The degree programs will help you in learning anatomy and physiology, science, nutrition, advanced nursing concepts, patients' wellness, measuring and reading important signs.
There are different rules set for CNA instructors in each state. However, the most common one is the RN license and work experience. To become an RN, you have to pass the National Council Licensure Exam. For experience, you can work in hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities and rehabilitation centers. Your employment record will be considered even if you have to hold the RN designation in a private clinic.
Take a certification course to learn teaching. Many schools offer Train-the-Trainer Certification Course (to known more in details about certification see here). The course is not expensive, and it takes 15 to 25 hours to complete, which is less than a week. You will be paying around $415 to $500. Information on exact cost can be secured by talking to the training department.
You will receive instructions to help you train students aspiring to become certified nursing assistants. You can define complex nursing topics in simple and clear language for students to grasp it easily. Your knowledge of legal responsibilities pertaining to the nursing job will be improved. In addition, you will have tricks in your sleeves to motivate and evaluate students.
The future holds great promise for CNA instructors. They can work full-time as a RN as well as earn extra income by teaching students who want to be nurses. Working as a full-time instructor is also a better option as the numbers of training institutes are growing to meet the demand & requirements of certified nursing assistants. Requirements
