Welingkar took its initiative further by installing a high end 3D printer at the INNOWE LAB on 19th December, 2013, with the presence of Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Welingkar.
A 3D printer allows printing a three dimensional model of designs. It uses an additive process under computer control and uses a process of making a solid object of virtually any shape from a digital design/model. 3D printing is an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes, making it distinct from traditional techniques that rely on the removal of material. Rapid prototyping reduces the time and cost of developing prototypes of new parts and devices. Standard applications include design visualization, prototyping/CAD, metal casting, architecture, education, geospatial, healthcare, and entertainment/retail.
With customized programs for various business sectors, Welingkar aims to create a common language between communities of various professionals and artists to create an environment of interdisciplinary learning and solve problems of today, by focusing on integrating design thinking and innovation into mainstream management programs
