Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) gives one of the prestigious scholarships to the meritorious students of India who have passed Class 12. The name of the scholarship is Central Sector Scholarship which is abbreviated as CSSS.This scholarship is given to the students on the merit basis of class 12 and there is no separate exam conducted by MHRD for the students to avail this scholarship. This scholarship is given to the students to pursue their higher studies. This scholarship of MHRD was introduced in the 11th five year plan. A total of 82000 scholarships are granted to the recipient of the scholarship.The scholarship is given to the students who belong from a family with low income group.The income of the candidate’s parents should not be more than 6 lakhs per annum from all sources. The candidates who want to apply for this scholarship must be a citizen of India and creamy layer. The candidate must have taken admission in undergraduate regular coursesin any recognized Indian University, College or Institution. The scholarship is given for 10 months in one academic year. A reward of Rs.1000 per month is paid to the students pursuing graduation and on the other handRs.2000 is paid per month for the students pursuing post-graduation. The scholarship is renewed for the students who have scored atleast 60% marks in first two semesters. The students form all the three streams, that is, Arts, Science and Commerce are given this scholarship. The Application process for CSSS can only be done through online mode only through National e-scholarship portal.The candidate must fill all the mandatory details given in the application form and take a print out of the application form which must be signed by the applicantalong with other documents and send to the Board before the prescribed deadline. The selection process will be made only after the declaration of class 12 class announced by CBSE, ICSE and other Boards. These boards will make a merit list of some of the potential candidates who might be eligible for the Central Sector Scholarship on the basis of their marks scored in the board exam of class 12. These eligible candidates will be given a written notice by the concerned authorities to confirm for the scholarship within 15 days of the notice period and they have to accept it. The candidates who are shortlisted will get Entitlement Card, Income Affidavit form and a form for Statement of Particulars. The interested candidates will have to fill all these particulars and deposit them to the Head to the Institution where they have taken admission. The Institution will further forward the documents to the respective boards for scrutiny regarding eligibility of the candidates and a final list will be given to National Scholarship Division of MHRD.
