CORPORATE EARNINGS Companies reporting will include Barnes & Noble, Dell, Home Depot, Kraft Foods, Macy’s, Medtronic, RadioShack, Saks, Wal-Mart (Tuesday); Hewlett-Packard, TJX and Toll Brothers (Wednesday); Deutsche Telekom, Kohl’s, Gap, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Sears, Target and TiVo (Thursday); and J.C. Penney and the Interpublic Group of Companies (Friday).

IN THE UNITED STATES On Monday, financial markets, government offices and many businesses will be closed in observance of Presidents’ Day. On Wednesday, Solyndra, the maker of solar panels that filed for bankruptcy, will begin an auction of its assets. On Thursday, the Agriculture Department will issue crop forecasts for 2012-13.

OVERSEAS On Monday, euro zone finance ministers are scheduled to meet in Brussels to consider a bailout for Greece. On Tuesday, European Union finance ministers are scheduled to meet in Brussels to discuss the debt crisis. On Thursday, the European Commission will release its latest economic forecast. On Saturday and Sunday, the Group of 20 finance ministers and central bank presidents will meet in Mexico City.
