Material Picking the best material for nuts is not only essential when estimating the cost, but even more so when considering factors like durability, brittleness, and resistance against corrosion. The most common materials for nuts are steel and stainless steel. Steel has earned acclaim because of its toughness, endurance, and tolerance to varying temperatures. On the other hand, stainless steel is popular among consumers due to its corrosion resistance. Silicon bronze (bronze) is another material that is mostly used in nuts and fasteners of marine engineering. It is preferred to stainless nuts also due to its good corrosion defence. It is better than brass since it is very strong. Bronze is less frequently used since it is expensive. The alloy of brass and aluminium are also often used for nuts and bolts. Other than being corrosion resistant they are more malleable than others. Philidas nuts are made of nylon. They are the most common choice of every manufacturer and mechanic these days due to the numerous advantages their shape and material has to offer. Coating Coatings are necessary to prevent corrosion and also make the fasteners look more beautiful. Zinc and chrome are the most popular coatings. Zinc plating gives excellent corrosion resistance, but it is inclined to corrosion if the coating gets broken or if exposed to continued water submersion and moisture. Other than corrosion resistance, chrome plating is used as a beautifying characteristic for specific purposes. Chrome plating presents equivalent corrosion resistance to zinc, but it produces a more polished surface. Type There are infinite types of nuts available in different configurations and dimensions. Within each of those categories are numerous subcategories. For example, Philidas nuts have subcategories of various diameters like M5, M6, M8, M10 .... M58. Size The size of a nut will depend on its application. Different devices or equipment will require different sizes of nuts at various locations.
