Roll-up doors can handle a variety of temperatures. Most obvious is normal temperatures. Yes, businesses make use of these roll-up doors in regular temperature businesses. Most people only think that they are used in refrigerated businesses but they make sense in any business where a forklift needs to travel from one room to the next. Why do they use roll-up doors? The doors open and close automatically. They also open quickly. The doors provide some measure of protection against dirt or some other particles moving from room to room. Therefore, the automatic opening and closing of the door saves time. The time builds up over the course of days, weeks, and years which means that a lot more time gets spent doing business-building activities instead of opening and closing a door. What about temperatures? The opening and closing of the door also is effective in keeping temperatures where they should be located. The doors are very popular for this use case and they can feature a seal that keeps cold rooms cold and warmer temperatures out. Therefore, if you are a food-based business or a medical business then this may be a smart buy for you. Does it deal with those temperatures well? Yes. It is designed to withstand the temperatures. The internal components tend not to freeze or slow down due to the cold. Therefore, even though you should check it every now and again, it should function as you expect despite the temperatures. Many of the models also feature the ability to fix themselves if they get knocked off track through a collision. The system tries to bring itself back to working order as soon as it can. The effect of this means that your employees can focus on continuing to work instead of trying to fix the machine. Just how fast is the door? There are models of these doors that close at a speed of 96” per second. Fairly quick if you think about it. It is the reason why it is effective at keeping temperatures or other particles in another room where it should be relatively contained. Obviously, it is not a true barrier that keeps out all of the possible warmth, cold, or temperature. However, it is effective at maintaining temperatures. If you need to keep an area completely isolated then you may need a different solution. If you have some leeway then this is a very good door for your business. You also have the option of getting vision panels for most of these products. The panels make sure that you are not going to run into someone on the other side. You can also see someone approaching the door which means that you can wait and avoid an accidental collision. A bigger deal if you both are driving forklifts because that may increase the chance of an explosion. A situation you want to avoid for all the obvious reasons. All it takes is properly planning how to do so with your roll-up doors. Finally, another safety feature is the ability of the door to open and close automatically and safely while making sure nothing is obstructing it. It does this using one or both of these two options. The first option is the photo-eye. The other is a reversing edge. The photo-eye is a system that uses an infrared beam. The beam is constantly checking for a connection. If it senses that the connection is broken or terminated then it stops the motor. It also reverses the door so that the damage to whatever was underneath it is minimized. The reversing edge senses contacts between the edge and any obstruction. If it senses an obstruction then it will also stop and reverse the door like the photo-eye. Again, your door will make use of one or both of these features. It all depends on what you get.
