The Best Jobs for Working Mothers |
Posted: January 2, 2018 |
As a mother, you have a full-time responsibility. You're on duty 24/7/365, so your work never ends. Unfortunately, many women don't have the luxury of choosing whether or not they want to work outside the home. This could be due to raising either young children at home or a child with special needs. However, stay-at-home moms should note that they don't have to follow the typical 9-5 path in order to earn some money for the family. It's not easy to both work and raise children. But if you have a great job and a flexible schedule, this type of work can be enjoyable and rewarding. While many of these jobs require a lot of effort and time from employees, the upside is that you do get a schedule that allows you to balance your work and home life. 1. Interior Designer Do you love everything about home decor? Do you love nothing more than to spend hours decorating one room? If so, you might want to look into interior design as a career. While some training in the field is preferred, the only prerequisite for entering the field is a good eye. You can build your clientele through loved ones, as well as inexpensive advertising avenues like Craigslist. First, start off with low rates. As you get more experience, clients, and referrals, you can gradually begin charging more. 2. Makeup Artist and Hairdresser Women (and men) will always want to look beautiful, so there will always be room for more makeup artists and hairdressers. You can do this type of work from home or from a salon in your local area. Many hair stylists and makeup artists set their own hours and work as much as they want. You can also choose to specialize in work with weddings and bridal parties. This type of work typically pays more than working from a local salon. 3. Realtor/Appraiser Real estate agents usually have to be available on nights and weekends. This job is great for moms who don't want their children in daycare during the day and can have their partner watch the kids at night. Appraisers determine a property's value by evaluating said property and comparing it to similar houses in the area. You will need to get certifications to become either a real estate agent or an appraiser. However, the pay and benefits for both jobs are good and the schedules accommodate working moms. 4. Nurse There are different types of nurses, from Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to Registered Nurses (RNs). CNAs need to complete a semester-long course while RNs need at minimum a two-year degree. If you wish to continue your nursing education, you can become a Nurse Practitioner, which requires you to get a master's degree. Nursing can act as a flexible career for working moms. CNAs can create their schedule around their parenting duties. RNs and Nurse Practitioners can easily work night and early morning shifts. Some nurses can even work from home by working for a nursing hotline where they answer people's medical questions without having to commute to a hospital or office. The nursing profession can be both rewarding and flexible for the working mother. 5. Anti-Aging Expert/Saleswoman If you really can't work outside the home, consider becoming a Nu Skin contributor, and checking out the Nu Skin reviews. This opportunity will have you selling the company's cosmetics, hair care products, health and wellness supplements, and skin care products. A premier anti-aging company, this company gives countless working mothers around the world the opportunity to earn money for their households.
