Cleaning Hacks That'll Shake The Very Foundation of Your Home Cleaning Regime |

Home Cleaning can be quite the pain in the butt. If you’re not the type to consider yourself as a clean freak, this fact is doubly true. But alas, it’s not like we can put off cleaning forever unless we want to live in a pigsty or a horror house. Even the most allergic of us of cleaning would probably be aghast at the prospect of living in a rodent-infested, dusty, cockroach-friendly, and (god forbid) maggot-filled home. Yikes, just the thought of it is enough to give me the skivvies. I know that if we’re given a chance to bulldoze our way out of cleaning, we will grab it the first chance we get. Of course, there’s always the option of hiring a professional and reliable maid service, but it’s not always feasible (and budget-friendly) to do that. So in cases where we’re faced with tackling cleaning problems all by our lonesome, here are some useful cleaning hacks to help you through the ordeal. And if all else fails, seek the aid of a Houston residential cleaning service. Use Your Bread as a Magnet Say what?! Bread as a magnet? I know, it sounds ridiculous, but bread works wonders in attracting or should I say, picking up glass shards. Most, if not all, of us, have gone through the annoying situation of trying to pick up or sweep off broken glass shards. It’s not the easiest thing I’m telling you. There’s always, ALWAYS, that itty little bit of broken glass that you can’t clean no matter how much zeal you place into sweeping. And as much you want just to leave it as is, you know you really can’t. So instead of trying to sweep off stubborn shards that hate getting into the dustpan, use bread to pick ‘em up. Drop a piece of loaf into the “accident area” and use it as you would a sponge. Once it has picked up shards, shake some of the pieces off into the trash and use it again to pick up tiny shards you might have missed. This hack works the same way as the clay or slime cleaning does. But, some of us don’t always have clay or slime readily available in their homes, so bread is a great choice. Use Rice as a Vase Cleaner If you hate cleaning vases or bottles, this cleaning hack will surely lift your mood. Instead of trying to fit your hands inside the tight confines of a vase and scrubbing the gunk away, use rice. This wonder grain isn’t just good for eating or skin lightening. They’re great for cleaning too! Just pour two tablespoons of dry rice into the vase and add a cup of warm water. Shake as vigorously as you could, making sure everything’s covered and then drain. You’d be surprised at how great the result would be. Go For Bucket-Less Cleaning When cleaning your home, go for a bucket-less cleaning. If you’ve ever tried to clean your house, you’d know the struggle of dragging a bucketful of water all over your living space and finding that you’re leaving a trail of gunk instead. And in some cases, tripping on your bucket and spilling murky water all over the pristine floors. That’s just the worst. All your hard work went in just a blink of an eye. Don’t let that happen to you. The next time you feel like mopping your house, don’t go for the bucket. Use a spray bottle instead. Just fill it with a diluted version of your favorite cleaning agent and spritz it on the surface you want to clean. Then, wipe it off with a microfiber mop/cloth, and you’re good to go. No more dragging buckets! Use Chalk for a Grease-free Home Using chalk as a grease remover is another hack you should know about. Unknown to many of us, chalk has incredible absorptive capabilities. In fact, it can absorb oil and grease from walls, table linens and clothes and leave them completely grease-free. Rub a piece of chalk on the greasy surface you’re struggling to clean, wait for the chalk to work its magic, then brush it off. If the grease stain persists, don’t worry. Rub it with chalk again and clean as you usually do. If you’re dealing with cloth, just put it in the laundry, and you’re good to go.
