Anchors Away |

ANCHORS A-WAY No, that wasn’t a typo. This blog is about throwing away your negative anchors; those beliefs that you are somehow not enough [not skinny enough, smart enough, pretty enough, talented enough…blah, blah, blah]. A huge block to your success lies in these negative beliefs. These beliefs come from memories of distorted truth – that you’re a failure, a loser, unworthy – should I go on? They get anchored into our thinking NOT as a distortion, but as reality. Yippee. Changing this false perception involves taking responsibility for our actions and choices. We fear taking this responsibility because we think that means it’s our fault. This isn’t about blame; it’s about reclaiming your power. So how does a negative memory block your success? Ohboyohboyohboy! You’re in for some fun, now… Here we go. Focus on one of your beliefs. Allow it to pull up the old memories. How do you feel? 1. Like a failure? 2. Did it shake up your self confidence or self esteem? 3. Do you doubt your ability to make good decisions? 4. Any anxiety? 5. How’s your motivation to try new things? 6. Creativity levels? 7. Do you feel inadequate or incapable? 8. Any physical symptoms get stronger? The “yes” answers scream trouble, Sailor. Some folks believe that negative experiences provide learning lessons. School of Hard Knocks, if you will. If that’s true, why does their memory create such an uncomfortable response? Did my teacher yelling at me teach me not to do X, or did it teach me “I’m stupid”? [probably did both] Hear this: when the memory is in contradiction to your Truth, it feels bad. If you repeat the memory’s belief, you adopt it. It’s now locked in and becomes your NEW truth. Distorted, but still real. Congratulations. We have an anchor. Time to remember your truth. When you’re ready… Your partner in change, Annie-Pat
