Propane gas can be described as a flammable hydrocarbon gas that is liquefied after being pressurized. It is categorized as LPG alongside butane as well as the mixture of these gases. Propane gas emanates from oil refining and processing of natural gas through the drilling of oil wells and is used for cooking, auto fuel, and heating. Propane gas goes by various names. For instance in the United States of America it is known as propane while in the United Kingdom it is called either LPG or propane and in Australia it has several names such as LP Gas, LPG Gas, BBQ, Autogas or LPG. PROPANE GAS COMPOSITION Being a hydrocarbon gas, propane gas consists of eight hydrogen atoms and three carbons within a propane molecule. Propane gas is not manufactured or made as it is naturally found in combination with other hydrocarbons. Propane gas does not naturally occur in isolation as it involves the collection and separation of gas from its petroleum base along with other Natural Gas Liquids. When it has been refined, propane gas is then stored and distributed as a liquid under pressure till it is used. At this stage it is used as gas or liquid. USES OF PROPANE GAS Propane gas has a lot of uses including the following: Businesses including companies and organizations usepropane gas for various purposes such as ovens, forklifts, steam boilers, and much more. Propane gas is also used in the transport sector. When not used on its own, butane is mixed with it to operate various types of vehicles. The agricultural sector is not left out as propane gas has a lot of uses including greenhouse heating, irrigation pumps, produce and crop drying, heating animal areas, and more. IT IS AFFORDABLE On the average propane gas is cheaper than other alternatives. For instance propane gas fireplaces cost about 50 percent less than fireplaces which use wood. IT IS DEPENDABLE Depending on propane gas to provide power and heating in your home ensures you depend less on the electric grid and you will not be affected if there is a power outage. Propane gasensures you have hot water, heating and hot meals even when the weather is terrible and when there is an outage. IT PROVIDES MORE WARMTH A propane gas heater is warmer compared to electrical heat pumps. Propane gas is available practically everywhere, whether you live in a rural or urban area. IT IS FRIENDLY WITH THE ENVIRONMENT When compared to power plants that supply electricity, propane gas causes less pollution. This means you are protecting the environment by providing air that is clean and breathable. It is not harmful to the soil and water supplies underground because it is insoluble.
