No matter how successful your business, a great sales manager is always on the lookout for ways in which they can improve sales performance and make the sales figures look even better. And no matter how great your figures are there are always little ways that you can make these improvements in order to generate the best sales revenue that you possibly can. 1.Improve your sales planA good sales plan is a vital tool for your company, a great one is even better, so take a look at what you have in place and work on ways to improve it. Your sales plan should contain a summary of the objectives of your sales team, your sales process, strategies and the tactics that you will use to work out how successful you should be. Make sure you address all of these key elements to give your company a sales plan that is truly effective. 2.Use your CRM properlyA CRM is a great tool to use for improving your sales figures, however you have to use it properly to get the best from it. If you are not using your CRM to its full potential then you are missing out on a valuable resource that could really make all the difference. 3.Sales metricsSometimes referred to as sales analytics, sales metrics are a great tool to help you measure all the aspects of your sales performance. This can be vital in helping you to identify any key issues and showing you which are the areas you should be focusing on making improvements in, such as sales training. Identifying any areas of particular strength or weakness can show you exactly where you need to focus all your efforts in order to make improvements to your sales performance, whilst highlighting those areas where you might be wasting valuable resources. 4.Effective sales meetingsMake sure that the sales meetings you run have value. Whilst running weekly, or more frequent, sales meetings might not be as effective as you think. Bringing your sales team together is important but you need to make sure that your sales meetings are high performing and bring about the results that you need. Regular meetings should make sure that each and every member of your team is focused on attaining their objectives, as well as making sure that your team can learn from each other. Perhaps the most important aspect of these meeting is to make sure that the sales manager has a good overall view of what is going on and can intervene if there are sales that look like they are not going anywhere. 5.Understand your leadsMake sure that you keep an eye on those sales leads. It’s important to recognise when you are spending too much time chasing up just one potential customer only to find yourself going around in circles. Sometimes, no matter how good a sales lead seems to be you need to be able to identify that it will in fact never really get off the ground.
