5 Effective Ways To Deal With Wastewater Problem |

Living in the 21st century has unlocked access to all comforts and luxuries of the world to the people, but the luxury of adequate water remains scarce. Water covers 71% of the earth’s surface. Oceans combined to hold approximately 96.5%. Only a mere 0.3% of the total water available on earth is useful for humans. Therefore, it becomes of utmost essential to save every drop. While many are aware of the scarcity of water and the need to save it, dealing with the wastewater problem remains something to be understood at large. Wastewater treatment is a process where the water that is not consumable for humans, can be treated in a way that it gets filtered from the impurities like sewage, chemicals, etc. and returned to the natural water cycle. Enzyme manufacturers in India have proven that wastewater treatment using enzymes is one of the best ways to filter the water and make it reusable. Below are some of the effective ways to deal with the wastewater problem.
SedimentationSedimentation is a physical process of filtration, where the water is allowed to pass through a tank slowly, which helps the insoluble particles from it to accumulate at the bottom, to get the filtered water from the other end. The process suspends the insoluble particles from the water, thus providing some degree of purification. However, the sedimentation process does not allow the filtration of water from any liquid solubles like chemicals.
OxidationOxidization is a chemical process to remove organic materials from the wastewater. The process involves mixing soft chemicals with the water to kill the bacteria that add on to the contamination. Some of the Oxidizing agents used in this technique are Chlorine, Ozone (O3), etc. Sometimes to Neutralize or balance the Ph level of water, the addition of acids and bases help to attain the natural Ph7. The acids and bases stop the reproduction of bacterias in the water, which helps in the balancing and further purifies it.
FlocculationFlocculation is a water treatment process similar to sedimentation. The process involves the suspension of the sediments from the water at the bottom of a surface into flocs or colloids, making it easily visible. Although the process comes naturally to a still kept fluid, the addition of the flocculants can artificially force the process. These are organic or inorganic substances which, once added to the fluid, help in the creation of the insoluble floc at the bottom, separating the clear water from the same.
AerationAeration is another physical technique used for purification of the wastewater. The process involves a close contact of air with water. The process takes place in a tank through which the circulation of air oxidizes the water and remove the undissolved gases like carbon dioxide. An evenly spread oxygen supply efficiently oxidizes the iron content and smoothly removes all the insoluble solid particles from the wastewater.
EnzymesThe enzyme manufacturers in India have created several pre-formulated live bacterias that act against the organic waste and odor of the wastewater, helping in the filtration and significantly enhance the quality of the same. Wastewater treatment using enzymes is an environment-friendly way of dealing with the wastewater problem. The proteins help in reducing the Chemical Oxygen Demand in the effluent, reducing the foul smell, and improving the clarity.
