Bikes are one of the most complex vehicles used by daily users like cars or scooters, each bike could have different configurations and control placements. Some bikes could have gears to the front and some opposite, they may or may not have a kill switch and similar. So riders when driving a new bike first time they may get confused or search for the controls while riding which could be risky and embarrassing to some extent. So here are things to do before riding a new motorcycle. Take a look: When you are going to ride a new bike make sure you take a look at all the necessary part and controls of the bike before going to start. Check the buttons from signals, headlights, horn and choke and see how they work and feel, this way you won’t be feeling odd while using them. Use the gears, brakes to get used to the pedal positioning and a little bit of suspension by exerting force too on the vehicle. These are the common things to do while taking a look at new motorcycle. Braking System: It’s important that riders should check the condition of the braking system before trying to go on a ride. Check how tight or loose is the chain and make sure it’s not too tight or too loose, also apply pressure on the brakes at lower speeds and see how much force is required to get the bike to still. Brakes could be difficult to know how good or bad they are, so it’s necessary that you test them a couple of times before going to high speeds. I always check the brakes before starting it’s the first time, then at 5 to 10 mph on a non-busy road and then at the curves and turns to completely understand the braking mechanism of the bike. So I advise you to follow the same or a better one you know. Controllable Speed: Never go to fast immediately on a new bike as you are not much used to the vehicle and if things go wrong you may end up in a pretty bad shape. Some bikes are so good that you will only think that you are going at 50kmph even when you are riding at 100kmph which makes things serious. So, always go slow and controllable speeds on new motorcycles until you have a good understanding of the bike. These are some of the important points to note while driving a new bike, the most important and simple thing to do is get used to the bike controls and buttons. This one point could help you a lot and save you from getting hurt or embarrassed. Also never mount a bike if you are not sure you could control it or when you feel the bike isn’t in good condition.
