GS Caltex first came to the final of the 2023 Gumi-Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Tournament (hereinafter referred to as the Cup Tournament). GS Caltex beat Hyundai Engineering & Construction with a set score of 3-1 (23-25 25-23 25-17 25-20) in the semifinals of the cup competition held at Park Chung-hee Gymnasium in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 4th. GS Caltex, which passed the preliminary round with second place in Group B (2 wins and 1 loss), defeated Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the first place in Group A (3 wins), and had a chance to challenge its second consecutive cup title following last year's Suncheon Games. GS Caltex is also the team that won the most women's titles (5 times) in the cup competition. Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which won four times, came in second in this category. GS Caltex led the game from the second half of the second set. GS Caltex, which gave up the first set, was also dragged 18-21 in the second set. However, Kwon Min-ji's time difference attack made up for one point and Hyundai Engineering & Construction's Jung Ji-yoon's attack error narrowed the gap further. As Jung Ji-yoon's quick opening went off the line again, GS Caltex tied the score at 21-21. GS Caltex then rolled up Hyundai Engineering & Construction middle blocker Yang Hyo-jin's central attack with defense and succeeded in reversing 22-21 with ace Kang So-hwi's open attack. With Yoo Seo-yeon's serve ace, GS Caltex ran away 23-21. Kang So-hwi made a set point with a quick open at 23-22, and finished the set with a quick open at 24-23. In the third set, Kang So-hwi's firepower shone. In 11-11, Kang So-hwi broke the balance with an open attack and added a goal by blocking Kim Joo-hyang's open attack. Since then, there have been two repeated scenes in which Moon Ji-yoon shakes Hyundai Engineering & Construction's receiving line with a strong serve and Kang So-hwi finishes with an attack. With Kang So-hwi and Oh Se-yeon scoring blocking and Moon Ji-yoon's serve ace, GS Caltex ran away 18-11, solidifying its victory. In the fourth set, GS Caltex also took the lead by scoring three consecutive points with Kang So-hwi's blocking, Hwang Yeon-ju's error, and Yoo Seo-yeon's quick opening, and finished the game while maintaining the lead. Kang So-hwi scored 23 points, the most in both teams. Choi Eun-ji left early in the second set due to a broken right ankle, but wing strikers Yoo Seo-yeon (14 points) and Moon Ji-yoon (14 points) helped Kang So-hwi. Hyundai Engineering & Construction failed to make use of its strength in height and failed to make a breakthrough, losing 4-11 to GS Caltex in blocking points. Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which lost to GS Caltex in the semifinals of the Suncheon Cup last year, also failed to advance to the finals in Gumi this year due to GS Caltex's wall. ?????
