Sittong is located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India.
Sixty-one percent of the people in the Darjeeling Sadar subdivision reside in rural areas, and thirty-nine percent live in urban areas. In the Kurseong subdivision, 41.59% of people reside in urban areas and 58.41% of people live in rural areas.The area is home to 78 tea gardens that produce and export a substantial amount of Darjeeling tea.
