Over the course of her career, Therese Shaheen has analyzed and advocated for growth in Asian economies. She currently serves as chair and CEO of USAsia International, Inc., which invests in corporate and technology development across the Asian continent. Therese Shaheen assumed this position after leading the American Institute in Taiwan as managing director and chair, a presidentially appointed post that she stands out as the first woman to hold.
In representing the interests of the United States in Taiwan for two years, Therese Shaheen drew on experience cofounding and guiding USAsia Commercial Development Corporation. She later took full ownership of the reorganized company under its current name, USAsia International, and returned to its helm after her government service.
Recognized for her experience, Therese Shaheen has served on such policy forums as the Republican National Committee Team 100 and the President's Club of The Heritage Federation. She has also worked to bring attention to women’s issues through the Independent Women's Forum, and was the chairman of international programs for the National Women's Economic Alliance.
