Mr. Darien served Merck & Co., Inc., for more than two decades in leadership roles that included a position heading Human Resources. He guided all HR aspects within the firm and managed labor relations, affirmative action, employee training, benefits, and compensation functions. During Steven M. Darien’s tenure with Merck & Co., the firm earned recognition from Fortune magazine as America's Most Admired Company for seven consecutive years and the status as one of the “Top 10 Best Companies” in the categories of women and minority employment, employee systems, and HR information systems. In 1995, Mr. Darien received the prestigious CIO-100 Award for Best Practices in Human Resources.
