As the Head of Emerging Products and Markets for Google Inc., Stephen Yap works to establish Google's position through new technologies and new markets. In the early part of his career at Google, Stephen Yap worked as Head of Platform Sales and Account Management, a position in which he was responsible for managing teams in North and South America, Asia, as well as northern Europe.
Based in Fairfield, Connecticut, Mr. Yap attended Boston College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1998, majoring in Psychology and Biology. He began his career with Katz Radio Network in Boston as a Sales Assistant, liaising between radio stations and national advertising agencies. In 1999, he joined Send.com, where he gained experience in running an online business, including the areas of strategy development, establishing business opportunities and alliances, daily operations, and marketing.
Mr. Yap has maintained a career with a strong track record well before joining Google. One of his earlier positions included his role as an Account Manager at the advertising firm DoubleClick, where he joined in 2001. He quickly accelerated to the role of Senior Account Director for Sales and Account Management in the company and oversaw a team of account managers with reputed clients such as Crate & Barrel, Unilever, J. Crew, and Staples, Inc. In 2005, he joined Omniture and, as Director of Global Channel Sales, was able to successfully close $2 million of new business within the first four months
