Since 2004, Mr. Been has maintained professional excellence which earned him the distinction of 2009 Homebuilder of the Year by Professional Builder Magazine. As a developer of both residential and commercial properties, Stephen F. Been has positioned Legacy Communities as one of the leading developers in the Southeast with more than 1,700 homes sold in 2007 alone.
Stephen F. Been developed a track record of success as a student at Frederica Academy of St. Simons Island in Georgia, where he participated in multiple extracurricular activities. Mr. Been played junior varsity and varsity soccer for five years and earned the Most Valuable Player award for three seasons. He went on to earn slots on the All-State, All-Region, and All-Star soccer squads. Demonstrating a capacity for leadership and teamwork, Stephen F. Been acted as the captain of the soccer team and led the team to the State Championship. In addition to his soccer pursuits, Mr. Been played basketball for five years and stood out as a member of the All-Region, Holiday Class All-Tournament, and All-State teams. Still the record-holder for the highest number of rebounds, Stephen F. Been was voted the Most Valuable Male Athlete at Frederica Academy on two occasions. He also received the “Most Athletic” designation as a senior.
