With a background in his field extending seven years, Sherif Mohamed El-Refai has been a Jersey City pharmacist since November, 2011. His current position builds on extensive undergraduate and Pharm.D. studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). During his years at UNC-CH, Sherif Mohamed El-Refai notably participated as a member of the Carolina Association of Pharmacy Students’ Clinical Discussion Group.
Sherif El-Refai has engaged in a number of volunteer activities in his field. As a Pre-Pharmacy program student from 2005 to 2007, he assisted at the WakeMed Cary Hospital. In 2008, he participated in Operation Immunization, providing flu vaccines to visitors at the State Fair in Raleigh. The following year he travelled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras as part of a medical mission. In 2010, Mr. El-Refai participated in the East Carolina University (ECU) Physicians Flu Clinic, sponsored by the ECU Brody School of Medicine.
Sherif El-Refai completed a number of specialized clerkships in the course of his doctoral work, including an Advanced Community clerkship at Bernstein Center Pharmacy in Greenville. He also undertook clerkships in Medication Safety at Greenville’s Pitt County Memorial Hospital, and in Ambulatory Care at North Carolina State University Student Health Services in Raleigh. He also notably undertook rotations in Hematology and Oncology, and ICU Trauma as part of his advanced training.
