After completing pre-med studies at Iran’s Institute of Tehran, Saeid Shamisan earned his doctor of medicine (MD) at the Tehran University Medical School. He subsequently served a cardiovascular surgery residency at Tehran’s Pahlavi Cardiovascular Center. Immigrating to the United States in 1979, Saeid Shamsian, MD, served an internship in general surgery and residencies in general surgery and urology at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. By the time he finished his last residency at Maimonides in 1984, he had risen through the ranks to become chief resident. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dr. S. Shamisan completed fellowships with both the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons.
In addition to his work as a clinical physician, Dr. S Shamsian instructed medical students through the Department of Urology at Columbia University. Before retiring in 2007, he treated patients at a number of hospitals throughout the greater New York City area.
