This is a method of using Leukotape and Cover-roll to decrease pain and loading of damaged tissues related to excessive foot pronation, such as plantar fascitis, tibialis posterior strain, abductor hallucis strain and nerve entrapment, achilles tendonitis, and so on.It can be altered in many ways to promote individualized control, but this particular video emphasizes combined global foot and ankle motions in all 3 planes of ankle dorsiflexion, forefoot eversion, and rearfoot eversion/valgus. The key is to pre-position the foot into plantarflexion, supination (inversion), and dorsiflexing the big toe to create a high arch position. Applying the second, brown layer of tape with more tension will result in greater pronation control, but also increases the possibility of skin irritation, so experiment to find a happy medium. It will flex and move with the foot to some degree, so there is a tradeoff between control and comfort. Visit us http://www.realrehab.com/ |
