If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that our global system is broken. When something is broken, we generally try to fix it. The problem is that, as a human race, we are prone to path dependency – the resistance to structural change. If there is anytime where we have an opportunity to pave a new trajectory for our species, it is now. And if we aren’t going to change now, then when? We must overcome our path dependency and construct a ‘new global normal’. Systemic change does not happen overnight, and will not happen if we are overwhelmed by the scale of the problem. New global normal is a platform for global citizens to unite and overcome path dependency, promote internationalism and look at realistic ways to reconstruct and improve global institutional/cooperative frameworks.
