Offering a curriculum structured around experiential learning, Morgan Rothschild Academy is an early childhood education program based in Shanghai, China. The academy was founded in 2005 by Morgan Huang, a diplomate of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Children enrolled at the school, who range in age from 18 months to 6 years old, are guided through all phases of their early development in nursery school, toddler, preschool, and kindergarten programs. A maximum of 65 students are admitted to the school, where classes are capped at 14 to 16 children. Additionally, each classroom at Morgan Rothschild Academy is staffed by two Chinese and one American instructor, which allows for individualized attention and the formation of strong teacher-child bonds. At the core of the academy’s methodology is active learning in which children engage in hands-on activities that encourage creative expression. Experiential education has been incorporated into Morgan Rothschild’s programs through the research-based techniques of the HighScope Curriculum, which stresses balanced early childhood learning that cultivates social, physical, and imaginative growth, in conjunction with acquiring academic fundamentals.
