The United States Constitution is a guaranty of individual freedom, and places restrictions on the powers of the federal government. In the preamble to the Constitution, the framers made it clear that it is designed to “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and to our posterity.” There are many core freedoms expressed in the Constitution, including the freedom of speech, the freedom of assembly, the freedom of religious expression, and the freedom to own property.
These freedoms are essential to the “blessings of liberty” and one is no more worthy of defense than another.
