As founding president, CEO, and chairman of the board of Alliance Select Foods International, Jonathan Y. Dee created a thriving international business with operations across five countries. He initially started the company as an exporter of Filipino tuna and took the company public in 2006, when the initial public offering (IPO) hit the maximum price allowed on the Philippine Stock Market. Jonathan Y. Dee continued to grow the company and ultimately expanded its customer base to include buyers in 56 countries including Angola, South Africa, and Serbia.
Jonathan Y. Dee also drove Alliance's growth through investments in commercial fishing operations. He secured a majority stake in Prime Foods New Zealand, the nation's second largest salmon processing group. The two companies collaborated in establishing a salmon production operation in the Philippines and created the joint venture Big Glory Bay (BGB) Salmon & Seafood, which Mr. Dee served as director. Mr. Dee also acquired Massachusetts smoked salmon company Spence & Co. as well as ASFI Choice Foods of Boston.
In recognition of his accomplishments through Alliance Select Foods, then known as Alliance Tuna, Jonathan Y. Dee became Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year for the Philippines. Three years later, Alliance received the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Export Marketing.
