As a student at Cornell University, George Kocher majored in development sociology, but he also took a wide range of business courses. Outside the classroom, George Kocher participated in college athletics by serving as a representative for the school’s wrestling team. Previously, he had won the Edinboro Open wrestling tournament while he was a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While he was in college, Mr. Kocher interned at Micro Consulting, a company located in Fords, New Jersey. While there, he employed time series plotting to examine important market trends as a worker in the sales division.
Following his time at Micro Consulting, Mr. Kocher secured a summer intern position at Barclays Capital. This internship helped him to develop a practical understanding of municipal bonds and repurchase agreements.
On the strength of his internship performance, Barclays offered George Kocher a full-time liquid markets trading analyst position. He accepted the job and went on to design solutions for matters related to cash burn inefficiencies and large flow trades.
