Dermatologist Dr. Balwant Singh serves as the Chief Executive Officer as well as a practitioner at Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital, Inc., in Georgetown, Guyana. In the role since 2004, he oversees the continued growth of the 50-bed acute-care medical center, which currently maintains some 22 different specialty medicine departments, including emergency care, cardiology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and neurology. In his executive role, he manages the rapid growth of Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital, while also introducing revolutionary treatments and procedures such as dermatological laser therapy to the region.
Before launching his career, Dr. Singh earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Rajasthan and he completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at Government Medical College in Jabalpur, India. He performed a residency in dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases at the University of Mysore before relocating to Guyana to work as a dermatologist and physician. In 2004, he set about transforming Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital into one of the region’s leading privately held specialty medical centers. Today, the facility serves as the region’s only hospital with specialists on call 24 hours a day.
As CEO of the hospital, the doctor works diligently to introduce new medicines and technologies to Georgetown and the surrounding areas.
