With headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi, and a center in Dallas, Texas, the Dore Program offers an innovative approach to addressing learning difficulties without the use of drugs. The Dore Program, developed by Wynford Dore and a team of researchers to help his daughter who had dyslexia, provides a practical program of physical exercise to improve concentration, coordination, social skills, and the overall ability to learn. The exercise-based remediation program’s scientific research indicates it can be a benefit to children as well as adults diagnosed with dyslexia, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyspraxia, and other neurological and learning disabilities. Program practitioners use a nonmedical, in-home therapy package to help clients improve cerebellum development.
In 2009, former British rugby player Scott Quinnell with a team of professionals took over the Dore Program in the United Kingdom, forming Dynevor Ltd. Quinnell and his two children had been through the program and benefited from the individualized techniques presented them. Through the new Dore Program, a multidisciplinary team designed an interactive, Internet-based support system called myDore. This virtual coaching system guides the client through a series of complex sensory and motor exercises performed for 10 minutes twice daily and allows participants to easily update and monitor their progress online.
