Dasara 2019 celebrations in Bangalore - ISKCON
ISKCON Bangalore, for the first time, celebrates Dasara on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in Bengaluru at National College grounds, Basavanagudi. Please join us for the celebrations.The celebrations of Dasara will commence with a Ramayana Costume Contest. Children dressed up as different characters of the Ramayana can participate in the contest. Exciting prizes will be awarded to the winners.There will be a devotional concert by Sri Vijay Prakash who is currently one of the judges for the Kannada reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. He has given his voice for several Hindi films and has also performed in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi movies. He has won ‘Best Playback Singer’ award, Filmfare Award and numerous other awards in recognition of his outstanding performances.His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore will deliver an inspirational talk. He is a full-time missionary with more than three decades of experience in practicing Krishna Consciousness. A former IITian from Mumbai, he is also the chairman of the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which serves free mid-day meals to school children. He has received several awards including the prestigious Padma Shri.The celebrations culminate with the spectacular event of setting ablaze 50 feet tall effigies of Ravana and Kumbhakarna to symbolize the victory of Lord Ramachandra over Ravana. Eco-friendly fireworks are used to burn the effigies so as to prevent environmental pollution.
