Over the course of her two-decade career, Christa Niven has worked in several areas of child development. For the past few years, she has focused on education. In 2013, Christa Niven became assistant to the head of Veritas Academy in Austin, Texas, where she played a role in developing a new campus in collaboration with engineers, architects, and attorneys.
The following year, Ms. Niven became the head of A Child’s Journey School in Kirkland, Washington. She focused on reframing the school according to the Reggio Emilia philosophy and within a year, the institution was voted best in its area. Next she founded and led Journey School in Lynnwood, Washington. In 2016, she expanded the Lynnwood, WA model with a sister school in Dripping Springs, TX, here she now oversees the teaching team and guides the development of teaching philosophy as head of school
Christa Niven and her husband are longtime foster parents. Together, they donate to local youth shelters and actively participate in their church through missional communities and service roles.
