A former deputy city attorney for the City of New Orleans, Bob Ellis guides the general practice firm Canlas Ellis, LLC, as partner. His law practice offers clients dedicated litigation services spanning insurance defense, taxation, and environmental issues. Bob Ellis’ work with the City of New Orleans has included such responsibilities as special tax counsel. Additionally, he undertook lobbying on sales and use tax law, including emphasizing passage of the Uniform Tax Code.
Mr. Ellis also has been active with the Gulf Coast Regional Center (GCRC), LLC, for the past two years. Operating as a for-profit company, GCRC is dedicated to fostering long-term economic growth and employment creation in Louisiana through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. The program enables the immigration of individuals who actively invest in job-creating U.S. businesses. Mr. Ellis assists in identifying key areas for investment, from coastal redevelopment and reforestation to green technologies. He maintains longstanding membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Outside of his professional engagements, he charitably supports several organizations, including NOLA Soccer Academy and the Irish Cultural Museum. An avid angler in his leisure time, he enjoys fishing for tuna off the Louisiana coast and travels to Alaska to fish for salmon.
