It has been over two decades since Dubai rose to glistening glory and it has never gone back down again. Despite its highly conservative traditions, this city has embraced a glorious and progressive outlook to the modern trend proliferation. However, traces of tradition that have been ingrained into the city's roots give off a distinct whiff of the past. These traditions tie in the rules that speak of the beautiful starry nights, the warm desert wind, the delicious food adventures and the glistening city delights. Slicing through every liberal upgrade are the exotic roots that make Dubai the perfect blend of convention and contemporary. With the unending beauty that the city has to offer, restrictions come in bountiful. Therefore, it is quite important to stay one step ahead with a proper awareness. We have a few tips for you to stay safe and blend right in with the city. Let's find out. Modest attire When I say Dubai believes in modest clothing, it means they believe in it to the point of putting up signs at malls that ask visitors to dress in a way that dos not attract attention. While spaghetti straps and shorts are not barred at the resort, but baring your shoulders and knees would be an utter disrespect to the Emiratis. It is, therefore, advisable for women to wear skirts that cover your knees and sleeves covering your elbows. Tank tops or a sun dress can get you kicked out of the mall. Even though the heat of the city might suffocate you at your first outing, the indoors have their air conditioning dialed down to a chilly ambiance. So you might as well carry a wrap or a light sweater to see you through these conditions. A smart casual and a shawl in your bag will see you through any hardship of the day. However, the night life of this city can be some glowing Vegas. This is when the city lights up to the unending sparkle and color that it has to offer. A cocktail dress would do you justice. Men can pack in the chinos, the tees, light shirts, a baseball cap and the comfortable shorts for Dubai. And do not forget the Ray Ban, the sunscreen and the hat. If heels are what you can't live without, then you would have a ball of a time in Dubai. The four-inch Gucci's will serve you right at lunch. However, if you opt for the blinding varieties of adventure that Dubai has to offer, from sandboarding to desert safaris, flip flops and hiking boots are a must-carry. Avoid alcohol consumption in public Even though alcohol consumption isn't banned in Dubai, you won't be able to purchase alcohol from a liquor shop if you are tourist. Alcohol consumption is only permitted in licensed bars and restaurants and other such private locations. You should also know that the Emiratis have a zero-tolerance policy for drinking and driving. Fines are heavy and you might run the risk of getting your car impounded as well. Obeying the rules is all that it takes. Drugs are strictly prohibited Carrying narcotics can result in imprisonment or deportation. It is not just the luggage that cannot contain narcotics, but your bloodstream as well. Drugs are completely prohibited in Dubai, even in residual amounts. You might be surprised to find that even the prescribed drugs which are permissible in other countries are forbidden in United Arab Emirates, even in residual amounts. Therefore, we recommend you to do some prior research and check with the UAE authorities on this. Do not forget to ask for permission before you take pictures Refrain from taking pictures of airports, military installations, government building etc. It is always best to ask permission before happily capturing people. And never take a picture of a Muslim woman without permission. However, the shutterbug in you can run amok in a tourist area where photography is permitted. In addition to all of the above, avoid public display of affection, since this is considered offensive, do not do or say anything that inflicts disrespect on the Islamic religion. And do not defy the rules during Ramadan which includes non-consumption of food, drinks and not playing loud music from the wee hours of the morning to sunset. If you are a non-observant, you can always be polite by doing all that in the privacy of your room. Having said that, Dubai is all that the progressive future is and if you play safe, then you are bound to have a ball of a time there. http://www.timesharesbyowner.com/
