Austin has it all, whether it be a family adventure, a particular group, or a singles trip. The capital city of Austin is a destination well-known for its thriving nightlife and music scene. There are also numerous outdoor activities to do in this beautiful city. Nature and fitness enthusiasts can go hiking, jogging, or paddleboarding right downtown around the beautiful Lady Bird Lake. Next to the lake is Zilker Park, the Austin Science Center, Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum, and Barton Springs, a public pool fed by a natural spring. While they are known for their Bar-B-Que and Mexican food, there are also many legendary restaurants. Uchi, a sophisticated sushi experience, or Jefferey’s French and American style cuisine. If that’s not enough, their delicious food trucks are pretty much everywhere. One of the things that makes Austin great is its location. Because Austin is located in the heart of Texas, you can take a day trip in any direction and have a unique experience. You can head south to San Marcos and go tubing in the river or New Braunsfels to the legendary Schlitterbahn Water Park. Stop by Gruene, Texas, population 20, to go Honky Tonkin’ and the legendary Gruene Dance Hall. Keep heading south for another 45 more minutes to San Antonio. Fill up on some of the best Mexican food in the state and visit the historic Alamo and Riverwalk. Also, the JW Marriott Hill Country Hotel and Resort has recently reopened as of June 15, 2021. You can also head west of San Antonio and Austin deeper into the Texas Hill Country to the town of Fredericksburg. Along the way, you can visit some of the best wineries outside of Napa Valley. The climate in the hill country is ideal for growing grapes, and there are some incredible winemakers in the area. Of course, you will want to be responsible. That’s why several shuttle services will take you to all of the wineries in the area and bring you safe and sound back to your destination in the evening.
