Great Ways to Get Your Baby Laughing Posted: September 22, 2017 @ 5:33 pm |
There is no sound more beautiful than the laughter of a baby, particularly if that baby is your own. Whether it’s a tinkly giggle or a full-blown belly laugh, the laughter of a child is guaranteed to get you laughing too. Wish you could make your bundle of joy laugh on demand? It’s easier than you think. Here are some great ways to get your little cutie giggling from head to toe: Play TogetherBabies love looking at faces, particularly at faces they know and find comforting, such as their parents’. Take advantage of this to induce some giggles by holding your baby in your arms so that she can see your face and then indulging in some laughter of your own. Pull funny faces, open your eyes wide, smile, laugh and show your baby what a happy face looks like. Play peekaboo, kiss their nose, and otherwise shower them with attention. Whilst you’re playing together and your smiling face is within their field of vision, laughter is sure to follow! Teddy TimeOnce your baby is between three and four months old, they should be able to reach and grab at objects, such as their rattle or a teddy bear. The novelty of this experience is an incredibly easy way to get your little one to giggle. Ensure your baby has ready access to some soft toys gifts (preferably ones that are fun and colourful) and incorporate these into your funny play. Use the soft toys to play peekaboo, let the teddies gently bop the baby on the nose, and sit back and wait for the laughter to start rolling in! This is also a good way to promote your infant’s hand-eye coordination, as they begin to reach out and hold the baby soft toys themselves, asserting their authority in the game. Funny Foot RubEveryone loves a good foot rub! The gentle touch of their parents’ hands on their feet is sure to be relaxing, and this is a great way to bond with your baby as well as help them get off to sleep. Move your hands around your baby’s feet in a circular motion, then apply gentle pressure to each of their toes. Press the heel of your hand against the sole of their foot, and then finish your massage by kissing and tickling those tiny tootsies. Even the most laugh-reluctant baby won’t be able to help but belly laugh when mummy is tickling her feet! Blow RaspberriesMost babies love to hear unusual and unexpected sounds, so blowing raspberries and making other fun noises is likely to illicit a laugh. If you want to up the ante on this game then you could also consider blowing raspberries across their tummy or face, which will cause a rib-roaring tickling sensation. Physical games such as these are a great way to promote a bond between parent and child. Before enjoying physical play with your baby though it is important to get down to your baby’s level and make sure they are smiling, so that they know you are playing a game and won’t become frightened by your sudden contact.
