Tool Making For CNC Machine - Types of Tools Used |
Posted: November 14, 2013 |
CNC, referring Computer Numerical Control machining, is the computer controlled tool pieces of the equipments with various applications for material forming. Each machine will follow certain protocols that are designed by the CNC software. The CNC machines are employed for efficient tool making processes which help in the reduction of cost, manpower and time taken. CNC machine will employ the numerically controlled programming language which uses G-Codes or preparatory codes for coordinating tools and initiate the work in order. A three dimensional model is generated in CAD program, which is then converted into CNC through the manufacturing software that is computer aided, before the work is started with.
There are basically four stages involved in making tools using the CNC machines and they include, roughing, semi-finishing, finishing, contour milling.
Tool making with CNC machines and software makes the process cost efficient and it is very useful for the manufacturers which can be included in the computer controlled tools. The uniformity, relative precision, method standardization makes the process become more valuable in a wide range of machining. Some of the parts that are used in CNC machining are drills, lathes, electrical discharge machining machines, milling machines, water jet cutting machines, plasma cutting machines, laser cutting machines and Oxy-fuel cutting machines. Each tool or parts has its features and advantages to offer. Appropriate implementation of the tools with right programming can help in achieving highest accuracy and quality in the machine or equipments produced. However, all the processes and systems are computer controlled which ensure the precision in the process happening during manufacturing.
