What Is Storeboard.com?
Storeboard is a live social media site and business directory that has over 67,000 Members from more than 125 countries. Storeboard combines technology found in social, directory, classified, and marketplace sites all into one.
Storeboard is a living, breathing social network (similar to LinkedIn. Facebook, and Youtube but aimed at businesses) that is thriving and growing. Storeboard is currently ranked 14K by Alexa. Storeboard is engaging and has outperformed Tumblr and Linkedin in Page Views and Time on Site! Storeboard has been steadily expanding its reach and is now seeking its first round of investment.
What Makes Storeboard Unique?
A Storeboard profile is the most detailed profile that exists for businesses on the Internet. A business can put everything from its description to its images, blogs, videos, products, links to all of its social media pages, and more on its profile. Unlike Facebook and LinkedIn, any media that a Storeboard member posts gets its own unique URL making the Member's postings searchable and more importantly, shareable. All posts can be shared on any social network and each and every post has analytics so Members are encouraged to share and can analyze the effectiveness of their postings.
By aggregating business profiles and related media, Storeboard seeks to create a superior way of searching businesses by using homogeneous profiles and search filters. Businesses prefer Storeboard over a Facebook page which has limitations on sharing and distribution (see: How a Storeboard Profile is Different (Dare I Say Better) Than a Facebook Profile!).
In addition, everything gets categorized on Storeboard so viewers can discover media by type and location. For example, a viewer can search landscaping videos in Melbourne, Australia, legal blogs in the UK, or Internet Marketing Image in California.
Who Is A Typical Storeboard Member?
A typical Storeboard member returns again and again. For example, Metro Shelves is one of the largest sellers of shelving in the world. Metro Shelves joined Storeboard on May 3, 2011 and has logged on over 700 times. Metro Shelves has thousand of connections on Storeboard and has posted hundreds of images of the various shelves they carry as well as several blogs.
Storeboard's Massive Potential
Storeboard can revolutionize business search and eventually hopes to provide a better search experience by creating a uniform way of viewing businesses similar to the way people prefer to search for hotels on Expedia over Google.
Two ways that Storeboard is ramping up the number of profiles on Storeboard is through the licensing of our software to business directories and though a product we are developing aimed at malls and shopping centers.
The Storeboard Platform has been licensed to 16 industrial directories with the first three directories are live and running on the Storeboard platform: Oil and Petroleum, Coal, and Rock Products. There are over 1.5M business directories so there is an enormous opportunity for Storeboard.
The Storeboard platform can be used by publishers of directories, newspapers, magazines, coupon books, and in conjunction with other printed materials. The Storeboard platform can be licensed for a annual fee or revenue share.
In addition, Storeboard is developing an application for Malls and Shopping Centers (this is a prototype a this point). This product is provides an online directory of every store, restaurant, or kiosk in a particular mall or shopping center and catalogs their images, products, videos, and more so that shoppers can easily search the mall online. The profiles and the Mall application will be accessible to consumers as a complete online media rich directory. Consumers will be able to view an interactive map of the mall, experience actual store interiors, and select products, conduct searches, and engage with each store. Products can be ordered on Storeboard or direct from the retailer.
Storeboard recently launched Storeboard Business Networks which provide Storeboard members the opportunity to network and search postings within their specific business category. There are over 300 business categories and business owners interested in a particular category can network and locate all types of media, news, and information relative to a specific business category. This is in addition to over 1,000 groups that have been formed by Storeboard members.
Storeboard has begun publishing a print version of the website called: Storeboard In Print which is a free community magazine featuring Storeboard businesses, local deals, and articles. Storeboard In Print will publish specific city versions up to 4 times per year. Storeboard’s sales force will call on local businesses and sell combined digital and print packages. More information about Storeboard In Print can be found at http://www.storeboardinprint.com.
Storeboard may license its software to entrepreneurs to build out community websites and sign up local businesses. Independent business people will pay a licensing fee and promote Storeboard on a local level.
