5 Ways Facebook Could (and Should) Improve Its Business User Experience |

While many SEO and Marketing firms tout Facebook for Business and the Media continues to shower praise, there are several ways that Facebook could improve its Business pages (aka Fan Pages). Here are 5 initiatives Facebook could (and should) undertake to improve its business user experience: 1. Make Businesses Searchable - While it's possible to find Businesses on Facebook, it's certainly not easy. Try performing a search for a business in your local area and you will discover that search results are sparse. There is no comparison between searching for a business on Facebook and Yellowpages.com (now, yp.com). YP.com has a much greater selection of businesss better content. Make Media Posts Stay In Position - Businesses often want to post their company video or blog and have it always viewable and on display. They don't want to have to call a programmer to make this happen. While its easy to upload media on Facebook, it's not easy for a business to highlight and display their media once it's posted since it tends to fade over time as more postings displace their posts. 3. Make Media Searchable - When a business posts a video or a blog, it doesn't get catalogued and can't be searched independant of the Business. On Youtube, when a video is posted, viewers can discover the business by watching their video. Media posted to Facebook can't be searched. This puts the full burden on a business to generate interest in their media postings. Chances are the business already knows its Fans. The issue for the business is how to generate interest from viewers who don't already know about them. By making media postings available, Facebook could help its businesses get more exposure and ultimately, customers. 4. Make it Easier To Create a Dynamic Business Page - Facebook could make it easier for regular business people to compete with Top Brands when they create their business page. Right now programmers and web designers have a huge advantage over a business person in creating a Facebook page. Facebook should add instructions, tutorials, and create an interface that levels the playing field. 5. Promote The Site As a Tool to Find Businesses - Facebook doesn't promote itself as a way of finding or learning about businesses. It is a social tool and business is an after thought. The tools that Facebook has are extremely helpful to businesses. However, at the end of the day businesses want exposure and Facebook could help market the site more to help businesses gain more exposure. Right now, the responsibility to create interest and traffic to a Facebook business page lies squarely on the business unless of course they want to pay per click.
