Getting to grips with the karcher window vac |
Posted: July 27, 2016 |
I’m all up for trying new things and I have to say that I really do love my gadgets. One such gadget I’ve heard a lot about recently is the karcher window vac. In fact its been hard to miss it. Its advertised on TV virtually every day. So, when I visited my parents I noticed that they had and I thought I’d have a little play and let you know what I thought. I think the first thing to mention that it is quite big and bulky. To me it looks a little more streamlined on the TV. But, it is very light. It must weight under a kilo and probably weighs the same as one of those small car vacuum cleaners. Using it is simple and there’s a rocker switch at the top of the handle. It isn’t very noisy when its working and again sounds like a car vac. It does work well at sucking up water and spills and does this quickly. The blade is a bit big and think if you were to try cleaning small windows it would be a bit tricky. But I think some of the more expensive models come with small cleaning blades. I must admit I thought you could clean the windows using it from start to finish. But you can only use the karcher for sucking up the water and soap after you’ve washed the windows so that was little disappointing but that, to be honest, is a much more realistic that it would just do the one job. I also tried this on my car and used it for cleaning the windows. This did impress me because I was also able to clean the insides of the windows easily and then suck up the water quickly and without making a mess. Usually I would have to spend a long time drying off the windows or end up with lots of drips in my car so that was good. It also left a streak free finish which is also another plus. You can empty the tank using a little rubber bung at the bottom and this is easy to do. Overall it is a nifty little gadget but its not cheap. I think the basic ones cost about £50 and can go up to £100. Which to me is a bit overpriced considering you can get some decent car vacuums for about £20-£30 – which this is really. I personally wouldn’t pay about £100 for a window vacuum cleaner! But that’s probably because I’m tight. That said my parents seem quite happy with it and it does work. So, if you’re not as frugal as me it could be worth the money and very useful. In fact, if you shop around you can find some of the earlier units for about £50 which is much more reasonable. That said, I can see (and have felt!) the usefulness of a nifty little device like this. You can read a bit more about it here: http://dehumidifierreviewshq.co.uk/karcher-window-vac-review/ It does suck water off windows (as its supposed to) and is also very versatile and used for many other jobs around the home.
