I've been working with many individuals in various situations where they have asked how they can pay their tithes online. They realize they can no longer physically go down to their local church every week to make a payment, and they want to do everything they can to help in their budgets. They know they need to make some sacrifices now because it's more difficult to survive financially without going to church. Many have told me their story before. I recently interviewed one man who told me his story before he ever joined the church and told me he'd joined again. He told me that he'd joined a couple of years ago and that even though he couldn't make a regular full-time tithe at first, he's always made at least a monthly contribution to his church. Now that the church has opened the membership to tithing online, he is wondering whether or not the actual amount of tithing he pays each week is disclosed to the church leader. There is no particular guideline on how much one pays in regards to donations, he wants to make sure he knows what he's contributing. The man told me that he is unsure if he's expected to make a full donation to his church each week since he joined. Since he is a member in good standing, he is allowed to contribute some money each week. So, he said he'll probably just contribute what he can when he goes to the meeting this week to see what the requirements are and whether he qualifies for a larger donation later in the year. He told me that he is unsure if he's going to join again in the future given that he is currently not doing very well financially. When I explained the tithing online system to him, he was impressed with it. He told me that he had looked into starting the program before but never got around to it because he wasn't sure if he was able to fit it into his already busy schedule. But he's glad he did now. He told me that he really likes the way the church uses the program and the fact that he can discuss the plans that the church has put in place with other members rather than having to take everyone's advice and figure out their strategy from scratch. He feels more comfortable discussing these things now that he understands how they work. When I explained to him that there were actually two ways he could go about making a tithing a regular occurrence, he was happy to know that he doesn't have to join again this year as he had planned. He told me that he is looking forward to getting started and using the website to make a quick contribution. As for me, I told him that I really liked the website and the way it worked, and I was looking forward to using the pay for tithing settlement to start saving money for the church. It is truly an easy way to get started. As a layperson just starting out, you have to be careful with what you decide to do. If you are asked to contribute a full tithe, for instance, you might want to decline. That is what the church expects of you, and it is something that they are probably not expecting from you. But if you just want to save a little money for yourself, then that is perfectly fine. I would suggest using the website to get started.
