What is Copper Piping?Copper piping is a tube-like material made of copper, a red-brown metal with the atomic number 29 and the chemical symbol Cu. It transports water, gas, oil, or other fluids from one location to another. Carbon Steel A53 Pipes are widely used in the construction industry for water supply lines and refrigerant lines in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. Copper pipes are available in soft or rigid copper and provide excellent corrosion resistance as well as reliable connections. Type K, Type L, and Type M are the three most common types of copper pipe used in residential and commercial construction. Some older homes may have a fourth type, which is used for drain-waste-vent, or DWV, piping. CopperCopper is a metal that is procured in its crude form naturally. It used to make Pipes, Tubes, Bars, Rods, Sheets, Wire, etc. A copper is not strong enough but heat and cold treating make it durable. The copper is however sensitive towards certain conditions. Protective Coating of Copper PipeThe copper in any form is not resistant to corrosion thus it is very important to do a protective coating on copper pipes. The emergence of a protective coating on a copper pipe is simply done because to ensure that the entire unit is protected from harsh environmental conditions, such as in wastewater treatment plants, food plants, commercial buildings near coastlines, and other harsh environments where corrosion can begin in just a few months. The coating secures the pipe from harsh conditions or applications. The copper pipes are mostly used in the piping system of houses, buildings, or industries, and factories. Generally, Coating is very important because it is for the benefit of the metal itself, be it any metal. The coating on any metal protects it from corrosion basically which is caused by water, gas, exposure to the environment, etc. there are four types of coating i.e. Barrier coating is one such which prevents water, oxygen, and electrolyte from coming in contact with the metal. Second is Inhibitive coating is used to prevent chemicals from interacting with the metals. Sacrificial coatings provide galvanic protection. In other words, they corrode instead of the underlying metal, providing electrons, which reverses the corrosion cell and transforms anodes into cathodes. Combination coating simply implies that it is a combination of certain coatings. The copper pipes are more prone to corrosion so coating the entire piping system of copper would be a great idea as it would extend the life of the pipe making it more durable. The copper pipes are coated for protection so it used in chemical and oil or gas industries for moving the product from one place to another conveniently. Industries like Food and Beverage depend on copper a lot for its property of preventing any leakage and contamination, this industry also uses copper vessels for storing the products but all of it needs to be washed regularly because sanitation is a prime consideration in the food and beverage and medical device industries.
