Buying the right carrier for your cat |

If you have ever owned or been around a cat, then you probably already know that they are very unique creatures with very diverse personalities. They can be the sweetest and most loyal pets, but they are quite independent and have a mind of their own. It is for that reason that when you are buying a pet carrier for a cat, you have to take some different things into consideration than if you were buying a pet carrier for a dog. What should I look for in a cat carrier?
? Cats are like magicians when it comes to getting themselves out of sticky situations, which is why it is said that they have nine lives. Cats will try every move in the book to avoid getting in the carrier, so you can consider getting a carrier that has doors on more than one side, which makes it an option to lower them into the carrier or walk them in from the side.
? If your cat has claws and loves to use them to destroy property, then it is obvious that you do not need a fabric carrier. You will need to purchase a carrier that is more durable so that it can withstand the scratching.
? All carriers should be able to be cleaned well, because there is always a chance that the animal can use the bathroom in the carrier. They are also used on occasions when the animal is ill, so you want to keep them sanitized for the next time you are using them. Why should cats always be in a carrier?
? There are always exceptions to the rule, but it is usually the case that cats can be easily spooked. This is not a good combination to have when you are operating a vehicle. If something happens, such as an emergency vehicle passing or someone honking their horn, there is always a chance that the cat will become frightening and not know how to react.
? If your cat is not declawed, their claws can create a major problem on the road. If your cat does become frightened, there is a possibility that you could be clawed during the process, which will more than likely cause you to not concentrate on the road temporarily. This can cause an accident or if nothing else, cause you to lose control for a moment. Aside from safety, their claws can also damage the fabric in your vehicle! Even if you have a cat with no claws in the front, they still have their back claws, which can cause damage when they jump off of surfaces.
? Cats have a naturally tendency to be curious, which means that they will want to wander all over the vehicle. While they usually do end up curling up somewhere and going to sleep, in the beginning they will likely be crawling all over the passengers and different areas of the vehicle. They can easily wind up under seats where they get stuck, or even under the feet of the driver, which can cause a serious accident. Picking out a cat carrier is absolutely one of the most important purchases you can make. While treats and toys are great additions to your cat's everyday life, a carrier is something that you almost always will need to have in your closet or home somewhere. Transporting a cat to a place where they do not want to go is not an easy task, but having the right carrier can make it a much easier situation.
