5 Body Language Tips for Actors at Audition |

1. Use microexpressions Correct facial gestures can either make or even break and actor. In an audition at the community theater or elsewhere, there are a few ways to utilize micro expressions: Genuinely smile. A director wants to see positive, happy people. Among the physical characteristics of a smile are showing of teeth and raised cheeks. To smile wholeheartedly, think about a joke or a scenario that tends to make you laugh. Ingenuous smiles are easy to spot, so be sure that your smile comes from a sense of true happiness. When walking into an audition room, avoid the display of anger, sadness, or disdain. 2. Launch stance The way you stand when you’re feeling relaxed, confident, and comfortable is your launch stance. In general, this means having feet planted firmly on the ground, head up, shoulders back, and chest out, knees very slightly bent. Once you know where to stand at the audition, get yourself into your launch stance.
3. Vocal power Keep the vocal chords relaxed, but still project power. In order to achieve this, breathe deeply. Prior to starting your monologue, your dance routine, or song, inhale and exhale deeply a number of times. Deep breathing can calm the nerves, ground your body, and also make others feel at ease while they mirror your apparent calmness.
