In an ironical twist, it is being estimated that robotic process automation would create about 2 lakh jobs in India by 2021. It’s a bit ironical because automation has been named as a big reason for job loss across industries and the worst hit seems to be the IT sector.
The Chief Marketing Officer of UiPath, Bobby Patrick recently stated that India has the opportunity to lead in this technology as a large number of Indians are reskilling themselves. UiPath provides RPA technologies to organizations and RPA has been gaining popularity as it automates tedious and repetitive tasks for retailers, financial institutions, and BPOs among others. Patrick also mentioned that the company has seen a strong pool of RPA talent evolving from India and these individuals have domain knowledge. They also combine technology with this domain knowledge.
The CEO and Co-Founder of UiPath, Daniel Dines stated that the RPA can help in boosting the income levels of Indians. At present, just 1 percent of Indians earn more than USD 20,000 per year. RPA is creating jobs that will ensure more people earn this much.
The CEO of Robonomics, an Australia-based startup also said that automation would generate various vital opportunities in the IT sector. Some of the new job roles being created include Robot Managers, Process Engineers, Infrastructure staff and implementation staff among others, said Raghu Subramanian, Chief Customer Success Officer at UiPath India.
