Ask for a Repair, Replacement or Refund under The Australian Consumer Law |
Posted: August 22, 2014 |
Recently ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) announced that now you can ask for a replacement, refund or repair under the Australian Consumer Law. You can ask for these according to ACCC for the products and services which are bought on or after 1 January 2011. There are two choices, if you throw a small problem with the product or service you can ask for free repair instead of a replacement or refund, but if you suffer a major problem with the product or service, you have right to ask for a refund or replacement. According to Australian Consumer Law, the consumer must receive the repair notice before the goods or services are taken over by the business for repair. The business will provide you a free repair for that product, but if the business fails to give you a free repair within the time limit you can get it done elsewhere or ask for a refund or a replacement.
The business will check out some following aspects when you ask for replacement or refund. The type of product or service The length of time a product or service is used by the consumer How the product or service can be used by the consumer and How much a product can be used before the failure of the product becomes noticeable
The refund you will get in the same form as your original payment and you will get the same amount which you paid for the product or service. You can also cancel the contract between you and business for the service which has a major problem and also ask for a refund or compensation against the price which you paid for the service according to the ACCC. You can checkout more on the official website of ACCC.
