Why Building Links That Are Never Indexed Is A Waste of Time |

Normally Google will learn about your links when Googlebot crawls your website. If it doesn’t get alerted to your new links or come across them while crawling, it won’t know to index them. Obviously, you aren’t going to all the trouble of link building just to have your links ignored, so here are some steps to take to make sure they get indexed. 1. Track your links Before you do anything to get your links indexed, you want to track them to figure out where they stand. You can use indexchecking.com or similar free tools to check whether or not your links have been indexed. Don’t worry too much if Google hasn’t picked up your links in the first week or so—that much lag time is pretty common. If your links still aren’t being indexed even after you’ve waited a while, though, you might want to try some of the following tips to get them noticed. 2. Don’t ping your links Though some people used to recommend it, especially in the earlier days of SEO, pinging your links is not a reliable way to make sure they get indexed. In fact, Google often associates pings with low quality links, so it they may actually worsen your chances of getting your links indexed. Google places a lot of weight on how natural your links seem. Pings, especially from just a few sources, often seem unnatural, which is another reason they likely won’t help your chances. 3. Use high quality links Spammy or low quality links are going to be looked over by search engines—or worse, they could make Google get suspicious of your link building and penalize you— so don’t waste your time on them. Your links should be relevant and trusted. You don’t want them to be one of too many other links on the page. You also don’t want them to all come from the same source. Links are also more effective if they are in-content, particularly if that content is new and original. On the other hand, links without content surrounding them may be seen by Google as spammy or unimportant. Make sure your content is something unique that will get your links noticed. 4. Avoid “noindex” sites and spammy platforms Some new pages may have the noindex tag—it’s a code snip located in the head section of the html that tells Google not to index anything on the page. If your link is on one of these pages, there is no way to get it indexed, no matter how high quality it is or how much good content you surround it by. Posting on spammy platforms—places that do little to overview their content and automatically accept anything that is posted—is similarly ineffective. Links you post there are unlikely to be indexed because Google will see them as spam. 5. Use two tier links Most of your links will be tier one links, those that link directly to one of your site’s main pages. Tier two links are links that you create to link to your tier one links. These can be slightly riskier in terms of penalization, and you have to be more careful with your anchor text ratios when you use them, but they also have a high payoff. You can place these links on private blog networks or other similar pages. 6. Use web 2.0s If your links still aren’t being indexed, you may need to step your efforts up a notch and try creating web 2.0s. This is one of the riskier link building methods you can use because if you are discovered using it Google may penalize you. Also, the process isn’t easy—you have to acquire and register the various subdomains, write the content, and add in your high quality links. Apart from that, using link indexing services like linkprocessor.com can also help you get your links indexed. That said, web 2.0s can give your links immediate relevancy and authority, so you may decide that the possible benefits outweigh the costs. Wrap up If these tips seem overwhelming or too high-tech for you, don’t worry! You can always hire the experts or other link building professionals. If you go the professional route, you can be sure your links will be indexed and your site’s ranking will improve noticeably.
